Instructors 2025

Instructor: Adam Brozowski (He/Him)

More people have told us that their class with Adam changed the way they think about dance and interact with their partner than any other teacher we have ever had, so it was an easy choice to bring him back this year!

A multi-disciplinary artist, Adam has had a unique freelance career encompassing dance, music and entertainment, community based projects and social activism. His primary work takes him to dance festivals around the world traveling to share what he loves about Jazz and Lindy Hop. Aside from being an accomplished international dancer, Adam is extremely passionate about working with his own LGBTQAI+ community around projects that help effect positive change.

Originally from Seattle, Washington Adam fell in love with Swing and Jazz music at 11 years old. Since then, Adam has been a member of the international Lindy Hop and Swing dance communities and travels the world as a teacher, performer and choreographer. Known for his accomplishments in Tap, Solo-Jazz, Balboa and Lindy Hop as both a lead, follow and fluid switch dancer, Adam has a unique multi-faceted skill set on the dance floor and in the classroom.

Adam is well known for his creative and out of the box approach to teaching. Often throwing convention out the window, Adam places a high value on musicianship, creative experimentation, self expression, historical inspiration (not appropriation) and a strong sense of equality between the voice of the follow and the leader.

Instructor: Andrea Gordon (She/Her)

If you came to Flying Home last year you know Andrea as the part of our flight crew that makes sure we all know what is happening, has the best outfits, and enough airplane puns to keep all of us giggling.

Andrea brings that sense of fun into the class room this year as an instructor. Andrea’s classes always celebrate the social dance floor and the connections between the dancers, the music and the dance.

Andrea Gordon’s dance journey started in the late 90s, when she decided she hated jazz dancing. Much like her taste in brussel sprouts, several years later she discovered she in fact loved vernacular jazz dances when prepared with a bit more flavor. Since that

time, she has become an award-winning lindy hopper performer, a celebrated Master of Ceremonies, and a sought-after voice in the discussion of inclusion and equity in jazz dance spaces within our community. While she enjoys the pursuit of improving her own art as a practitioner of African American vernacular jazz dances, she finds her greatest passion now comes from actively participating in a community that holds space, safety, love, and appreciation for all its members and the expression of their art. While she takes great pride in placing well in a number of contests and joining the touring company of Sw!ngOut, she will always love the social floor best.

Instructor: Andy Reid (He/Him)

This will be the first time we have had Andy Reid as an instructor for Flying Home but it is continuing what seems to be a tradition of New Orleans influences at the event!

Andy Reid is one of the most well-known and influential swing dancers out there. Since he started dancing in the late nineties, Andy has left an indelible mark on the dance scene. Andy’s style is a balance of the refined and the eccentric. His proficiency with rhythm and partnering makes his dancing rich and inspiring to watch and experience. While Andy’s dancing has many influences, Andy credits his greatest influence as the Harlem-born Black American social and performance dance called Lindy Hop– the original swing dance.

Since 2002, he has performed and taught in countries around the world including Korea, Australia, Japan, and all over Europe. Always striving for harmony with the music, Andy’s experience playing music in his current hometown of New Orleans affords him the opportunity to give his students a deeper musical connection to their dance. Andy’s teaching aims to bring the best out of his students both physically and mentally.

Andy has been a part of numerous very prominent dance teams. He is a founding member of Silver Shadows–undoubtedly one of the most influential Lindy Hop dance teams. He is also a member of the highly innovative troupe Minnie’s Moochers. Finally, Andy is also a founding member of Mad Dog!, a Lindy Hop Crew who is infamous within the Lindy community for some reason.

Andy currently resides in New Orleans, LA, where you can regularly see him playing bass with local traditional New Orleans bands.

Instructor: Jamica Zion

Perennial favorite and one of our original flying home crew Jamica returns as an instructor this year.  Jamica has been instrumental in making Flying Home feel like a giant family that is safe, comfortable, and welcoming.  If there is something about Flying Home you think is special you can believe it has Jamica’s fingerprints on it.

Instructor: Dee Matthews (They/Them)

A local favorite with a world wide following we are thrilled to have Dee as an instructor this year (as well as organizing all our competitions)

Instructor: Mattie Kelly (They/She)

New to Flying Home this year Mattie Kelly has been a fixture of the Richmond VA swing dance scene and we are excited to have them this year!

Mattie Kelly got their first taste of swing music by watching Swing Kids their senior year of highschool;they’ve been chasing that high ever since.
